What happens when a Nutritionist & a Chef fall in love? Magic unfolds; welcome to Bastion.

Bastion is a nutritionist & chef owned and operated restaurant in the trendy and bustling Sellwood-Moreland neighborhood of Portland. The Bastion team operates the business with the utmost intention and an unwavering commitment to the well-being of our community. We are 100% gluten-free, dairy-free, refined sugar-free, soy-free and corn-free, and aim to accommodate a variety of diets and ways of eating so that no matter how each person chooses to feed their body, there will be something for everyone on the menu.

At Bastion, we believe in taking care of everyone involved in our community including our guests, our staff & all our partners in the industry and beyond. We are much more than just a place to eat, we are a bastion, a stronghold & a safe haven offering a place for people to go who often don’t have other dining options in the community. We take great care to take care of everyone who enters our doors.  

We cultivate a team culture valuing positive interactions & strong foundational relationships; we do not participate in the negative & harmful cultures of the common restaurant kitchen. We strive for providing our guests with the highest quality of experiences, which we accomplish both with thoughtful attention to detail in every interaction we have with them throughout their time at Bastion as well as with the intention that goes into the nourishment that we serve. 

We demonstrate our way of conducting business as a model for longevity and sustainability within the industry. We commit to continued growth while utilizing sustainability practices and sourcing only the best quality of ingredients from like-minded farms & purveyors that have their sights set on regenerative agriculture, sustainability of the environment, the food system & of the people expending energy to grow, harvest, cultivate, or otherwise produce the ingredients we use. We share these collective beliefs and work together to achieve our vision of the greatest benefit for our entire community.

Our values around food go far beyond just what is presented on a plate. We are committed to supporting the health of our guests, of the environment, of the plants, animals and food products that we use, and of the workers harvesting and providing the ingredients we use. We believe that supporting regenerative practices is the best way to provide for our community while ensuring the continued health of our environment.

We work with local farmers & purveyors to source as many of the vegetables, fruit, proteins & other ingredients as we can from close to our home. A huge thanks goes out to the following partners:
